Sarah Dudley Pettey was an African-American educator, writer, organist & political activist in North Carolina. A member of St. Peter’s AME Zion Church, she was the wife of Reverend Dudley Pettey. She devoted her life & career to increasing gender and racial equality, Christian temperance & women's participation in the state's public sphere during the Jim Crow era.
