The RHONE Hotel

Following The 1922 Great Fire in New Bern, NC many needs of the African American community were addressed. The Rhone Sisters established "The Rhone Hotel" to serve "negro travelers" were restricted from the segregated housing for travelers in the region. Located an easy walk from the New Bern train station, the Rhone Hotel served as a welcoming and hospitable hotel from those traveling through the region. AAHC Oral History Library Episode #2.
